Pivotal
For the life that
works on paper but
feels strangely flat
4-Week Self-Guided Somatic Course
You function. You manage. You keep moving. From the outside, things look fine, and that's part of what makes this so hard to name.
But somewhere along the way, the colour started going out of things. Not dramatically, just quietly, over time, until one day you notice that you're getting through the days rather than living them. That you feel vaguely numb, or vaguely exhausted, or vaguely unlike yourself, and you can't quite remember when it started.
There's a name for this: functional freeze. On the outside you keep going, while inside, part of you has quietly switched off.
Pivotal is a four-week, self-guided somatic course for women who suspect there's more going on beneath the surface than they've been able to reach through therapy, self-help or sheer force of will.
Ten minutes a day, enough for the colour to start coming back.
When trying harder isn’t the answer
You're capable. You're the one who holds everything together. You've done the reading, and you know what the window of tolerance is. You've tried therapy, yoga, breathwork and meditation, and you've shown up to all of it with genuine effort.
And yet the insights never quite land anywhere that changes how you feel. You understand your patterns; you just can't seem to move them. The days stay manageable. The grey stays.
That isn't a shortage of understanding or effort. Real change, the kind that reaches your nervous system and alters how your days actually feel, rarely happens in a single session, a weekend retreat or a weekly class. It happens in the small spaces between. In the moment before you respond. In two minutes at the kitchen window. In what you notice in your body when your phone buzzes with a message you'd rather not read.
Your nervous system doesn't learn through intensity. It learns through repetition: small, consistent moments of something different, showing it again and again that it's safe to feel a little more than it currently allows.
As that sinks in, and your body becomes somewhere you can live rather than something to outrun, your capacity to feel widens. So does your capacity to choose. You start to notice the difference between a yes that comes from truth and a yes that comes from habit or fear.
That's when the world begins to open. Quietly at first, and then unmistakably.
Pivotal exists because your body is the way through. It's four weeks of meeting it differently: with less force, more presence, and a quality of attention most of us were never taught to offer ourselves.
It isn't therapy, and it isn't yoga as you know it.
The Four Elements of Pivotal
Pivotal moves through four elements, one each week. Each addresses a different layer of the work, and each builds gently on the last.
There's no performance here and no straight line. Some days will feel quiet; others may feel tender, or unexpectedly alive. You're invited to move at the pace your nervous system allows, with room to integrate rather than push.
Week 1: Earth
Grounding & Safety
You don't need to feel calm. You need to feel here.
This is the unglamorous groundwork for everything that follows. Before you can thaw and begin to feel, your nervous system needs something solid beneath it. Without that, anything built on top can come down with the smallest tremble (or trigger). So we start here, quite literally, with your feet on the ground and the simple experience of being in your body.
Week 2: Water
Emotional Reconnection
Numbness is not the absence of feeling
It's emotion, and the sensation that comes with it, that hasn't felt safe enough to experience. But with some ground and stability beneath you, the ice can start to thaw. Water lets what's been kept at arm's length come a little closer: grief, longing, rage and, rather unexpectedly, sometimes joy. You meet it where it shows up in your body, rather than picking it apart from a safe distance in your head.
Emotions are meant to pass through, like a river. This week, you practise letting them flow, a little at a time, instead of damming them up.
Week 3: Fire
The Power of Choice
Learning which yes is actually yours
Most of us have said yes when we meant no more times than we'd care to count. Out of habit, out of fear, out of conditioning so old it stopped looking like a choice at all. But with ground beneath you and feeling moving again, there's enough warmth in you now to notice something new: the small flare in your body when a yes comes from truth, and the quiet tightening when it comes from survival.
Fire isn't about becoming more assertive, or suddenly saying no to everyone (tempting as that may be). It's about the pause between the request and the reply, and the clearer thinking that arrives when your body feels safe enough to let it through. Your own knowing has been there all along. This week, you learn to hear it over the noise.
Week 4: Air
Embodied sovereignty
What it means to belong to yourself
Air is breath, and it's space. After three weeks of ground, thaw and warmth, this final week is about letting there be a little more room inside you: room to breathe before reacting, to take up space and expand into it. To begin speaking your truth with less fear, and to live from inside your own skin rather than from anyone else's idea of who you should be.
Air is also about giving yourself space to integrate. You probably won't finish the four weeks unrecognisable, but something may have shifted, perhaps in ways you can't yet name. Think of it as seeds planted in the earth. With daily watering and sunlight, they'll begin to put down roots and grow.
You may notice a little more colour where before there were only shades of grey. Your body may have started to feel less like a problem to manage and more like somewhere you live.
Not a transformation. A return.
When the colour started coming back
“Movement released so much more for me than sitting in a counselling room. I carried on for years being brave and strong, swallowing down grief and hiding emotion. I felt numb, unable to express what I needed. I learned to notice my body, feel emotion safely, and release what I’d been holding. Now, I feel calmer, more aware of what I truly feel, and I’m discovering a growing inner confidence I never thought possible.”
Sarah“At the time I joined, I felt low in energy and quite stuck. I felt blocked, disconnected from myself, and tired of running into the same inner wall. Through the practices, I realised that real change starts in small moments — not through force, but through awareness and presence.”
Ayla“I can easily stay in my head — overthinking and ruminating. This course helped me focus on hearing what my body is saying and letting it take the lead. The four elements gave me a really useful way to understand my nervous system and what is happening in my body”
Sally“When I first heard of Soraya’s course, I was immediately thrilled about the opportunity, and it didn’t disappoint.
I would totally recommend it, give yourself this opportunity”

What's inside Pivotal
Pivotal is designed for the life you actually have, not the one with a spare hour and a scented candle. Each practice takes ten minutes or less, and none of them need a mat, a studio or a rare window of quiet. You can do them while the kettle boils, sitting in a parked car, or in the two minutes before a meeting begins.
That's deliberate. Small moments, repeated often enough, are what begin to change something real.
“My life is busy and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to fit in the course, but it’s designed really well to fit around a packed schedule. The exercises didn’t take much time at all — but they were powerful and profound. They helped me pepper my day with moments of connection, grounding myself and feeling whatever I was feeling, with far less self-judgement.”

What’s included
Guided audio practices
A new practice each week, short enough to fit inside a real day. There's nothing to push through or get right. Each one is an invitation to notice, to feel and to come back to yourself, at a pace your nervous system can meet. They're shaped by my training in trauma-sensitive yoga (TCTSY) and fourteen years of my own somatic practice, and they're yours to keep long after the four weeks are up.
Each week opens with a short video introducing its element: what it means for your body, and why it matters for where you are now.
Weekly videos
Workbook and journal prompts
A PDF workbook with gentle prompts to help you track what you're noticing and find words for it. Less a journal to perform in, more a place to listen.
Your space on Skool
Pivotal lives on Skool, a simple course and community platform. There's no app to download, as it works in any browser. Once you join, you'll get an email with your link, and you can begin straight away.
You'll also be welcome in the open Skool community: somewhere to share what you're noticing, ask questions and feel accompanied, without the intensity of a closed group.
If you'd like to go deeper afterwards, the six-month Alchemy programme offers a private community and more sustained support.
This is for you if….
You've tried therapy, yoga, breathwork or meditation, and the insights never quite reach the place where you actually live.
You're capable and functioning, but a little flat. Life looks fine on the outside and feels muted on the inside.
You live mostly in your head, and you'd like to feel more grounded, more present and more real to yourself.
Your feelings swing between flat and too much, and you're not sure how to meet them without being swept away.
You override your needs daily, even as your body sends clearer and clearer signals that something has to change.
You sense the old ways of coping are running out, and you'd like to find what comes next.
You're not ready for a six-month commitment, but you are ready to begin.
Pivotal may not be right for you if…
You're looking for a quick fix or a symptom-management tool.
You prefer purely cognitive approaches and would rather not work with your body.
You're not willing to slow down, even for ten minutes a day.
You're hoping for someone else to do the changing, rather than learning to meet yourself differently.
You're after performance, productivity or optimisation rather than depth, presence and truth.
You'd like more personal support than a self-guided course can offer. HELD, my one-to-one work, may suit you better.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Pivotal is for women who sense that something beneath the surface — something beyond what therapy, self-help, or willpower has been able to reach — is asking to be addressed. It is particularly well-suited to those who already have some understanding of their patterns, but find that understanding alone hasn’t moved anything. If the insights have landed but the feeling hasn’t, this is for you.
-
A retreat or weekly class can open something, and that matters. But the nervous system doesn’t change through intensity alone. It changes through consistency — through small, repeated moments of something different, woven into the ordinary fabric of daily life. That is what Pivotal is built around: practices short enough to do anywhere, frequent enough to accumulate into real change.
-
Pivotal is not psychotherapy. It is a trauma-informed, body-led programme grounded in somatic practice and trauma-sensitive yoga It can complement therapy well, but it does not replace clinical mental health treatment.
-
Therapy often works from the top down — through insight, language, and understanding. Pivotal works from the bottom up. It supports nervous system regulation and embodiment, helping you feel what you may already understand intellectually. Many people find they’ve been circling the same insights for years; this work helps those insights finally land in the body, where change actually lives.
-
That's one of the most common things women bring to this work. Everything in Pivotal is invitational and paced. You are never pushed. The practices are designed to be gentle enough that your nervous system doesn't brace against them — which is precisely what makes them effective.
-
Ten minutes or less, per practice. These are designed to be woven into daily life — not requiring a dedicated block of time you have to protect. Integration happens through consistency, not intensity.
-
Everything in Pivotal is self-paced. There is no performance schedule and no catching up required. The materials are yours to work through in the order and rhythm that suits you.
-
It can be. Pivotal is a complete, self-contained journey in its own right. It is also a meaningful first step for anyone who feels drawn to the deeper six-month work of Alchemy but isn’t yet ready for that container. Many people find that four weeks of Pivotal gives them clarity about whether Alchemy is the right next step.
Begin here
Pivotal won't transform you in four weeks.
But it can begin to show you what life feels like when your body is no longer something you're running from. When the grey loosens its grip, first at the edges, then further in. When you notice, one ordinary morning, that something has returned.
Four weeks. Four elements. Ten minutes at a time.
For now, that's enough.
